TPIU Compassionate HealthCare Patient Bill of Rights

The standard Patient’s Bill of Rights is an important set of rights and responsibilities that provide for basic healthcare.  To improve upon this basic healthcare, TPIU has developed a supplemental set of standards:  The TPIU Compassionate HealthCare Patient Bill of Rights.

My Healthcare Provider should:

  1. Listen attentively and spend enough time with me.
  2. Strive to understand my emotional needs.
  3. Show sensitivity, caring, genuine concern and compassion for my situation.
  4. Treat me as a person, not just as a disease or a patient.
  5. Communicate test results in a timely and sensitive manner.

My Provider’s Office should provide:

  1. A smooth & efficient appointment process.
  2. A pleasant check-in experience & a reasonable wait time.
  3. A respectful, kind, courteous and professional staff.
  4. An office environment that you have confidence in & trust.
  5. Transparency in billing practices and cost of services.
