TPIU Compassionate Healthcare Patient Bill of Rights

At The Patient Is U, we believe that compassionate health care begins with respect, listening, and human connection.  Patients are not defined by diagnoses, test results, or appointment times — they are individuals with values, fears, questions, and lives beyond the exam room.

This TPIU Patient Bill of Rights reflects our commitment to care that is attentive, transparent, respectful, and collaborative. It affirms what every patient deserves and what every health care provider should strive to deliver: care that honors dignity, builds trust, and treats the whole person.

My Healthcare Provider Will:

  • Listen attentively, answer my questions, and spend enough time with me.
Attentive listening isn’t a luxury — it’s fundamental to compassionate, effective care.
  • Seek to understand my emotional needs and encourage shared decision-making.
Healing is never just physical — it’s deeply human.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity, genuine concern, and compassion for my situation.
Compassion transforms clinical care into human care.
  • Treat me as a whole person, not just a diagnosis.
Whole-person care honors values, identity, and life circumstances — not just symptoms.
  • Communicate test results in a timely and sensitive manner.
Timely communication reduces fear. Sensitive communication builds trust.
  • Provide a smooth and efficient appointment process.
Efficiency reduces stress — long before the visit begins.
  • Offer a welcoming check-in experience and a reasonable wait time.
moments set the tone for the entire visit.
  • Ensure staff are respectful, kind, courteous, and professional.
Every interaction matters — from the first phone call to the final follow-up.
  • Maintain an environment that promotes confidence, trust, privacy, and dignity.
A safe, clean, welcoming space reduces fear and builds confidence.
  • Be transparent about billing practices and the cost of care.
Patients deserve clarity, explanation, and support — not confusion or anxiety.
