Compassionate Healthcare CME

Equipping Physicians for Compassionate Care Education in Connecticut

Equipping Physicians for Compassionate Care Education in Connecticut

Connecticut is actively exploring policies that would incorporate formal education in compassionate healthcare into physician licensure and continuing medical education requirements. The Patient Is U Foundation (TPIU) is committed to helping physicians prepare proactively by providing access to high-quality, evidence-based education in compassionate care.

Accredited Online CME in Compassionate Healthcare

TPIU is pleased to share access to accredited, online CME modules developed by the Compassion Research Lab at the University of Calgary. The lab and the EnACT Training Program is led by Dr. Shane Sinclair, an internationally recognized leader in compassion research and healthcare education. Physicians may complete any one module to receive CME credit.

These modules are:

  • Evidence-informed and competency-based
  • Designed specifically for practicing healthcare professionals
  • Fully online and self-paced
  • Eligible for 1.5 CME credits for each module, with certificates issued upon completion

CME Certificates

Upon completion, physicians receive a CME certificate directly from the program provider. TPIU does not administer, track, or store CME participation records.

  • Is this currently required for CT licensure?

No. At this time, compassionate healthcare CME is not yet a formal licensure requirement in Connecticut. TPIU is providing access to support early engagement and preparation.

  • Will this CME count if a requirement is adopted in the future?

If a future requirement is implemented, these accredited modules are expected to align well with anticipated educational standards. Final determinations will depend on regulatory guidance at that time.

  • How long does each module take?

Each of the four core modules take approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete. The complimentary intro module takes approximately 30 mins to complete.

  • Do I need to complete all four modules?

No. CME credit is awarded per module.

  • Why is TPIU sharing these modules?

TPIU’s mission is to advance compassionate, patient-centered healthcare through education, recognition, and thoughtful policy development. Making high-quality educational resources easily accessible is a core part of that mission.
