The Patient Is U Foundation mourns the passing of Claudio Pannunzio, our beloved Chairman of the Board and a deeply valued leader, colleague, and friend.
Claudio was a compassionate and visionary force within TPIU. He played a vital role in advancing our public outreach, strengthening our brand, increasing legislative visibility, and helping bring greater attention to the importance of compassionate healthcare. His leadership was thoughtful, steady, and deeply aligned with the mission of TPIU.
An accomplished marketing communications executive, entrepreneur, mindfulness teacher, interfaith chaplain, and cancer support volunteer, Claudio brought extraordinary depth and humanity to every role he held. As a two-time cancer survivor, he understood firsthand the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of illness and devoted himself to helping others navigate those challenges with hope and dignity.
Claudio’s service to cancer patients and families, including his support through Cancer Hope Network and Greenwich Hospital, reflected his rare ability to combine wisdom, empathy, and action. In 2023, he was honored with the Michael Kzirian “Flame of Courage” Award for his courage, resilience, and meaningful support of people facing cancer.
At TPIU, Claudio’s contributions were immeasurable. He was a champion of compassionate care, an inspiring advocate for our mission, and a friend whose spirit touched all who worked with him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Gabriella Pannunzio and to Claudio’s family and loved ones. We are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Claudio’s legacy will endure in the work he advanced, the lives he uplifted, and the example of compassion he gave so generously.
